When I said we were done, I was just kidding

Ok, It’s been way too long since I gave an update. It’s been a challenge to think of what to say, but I decided to give it my best shot.

So in December when I wrote our last post, I really thought we were done with paperwork. As it turns out, things just kept coming up that were undone. A new law was put into place in Washington that made every member of our household get background checks for any state lived in within the past 5 years. Ben was fine since he had been in WA. I had to complete one for Mississippi. Stephanie had to complete one for Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas. Then our social worker, Cassie, went on maternity leave. She still hasn’t sent us a picture of that cute baby…. I digress.

So again, we thought we were finished. The homestudy itself is written and sitting on a desk or computer somewhere. My Mississippi background clearance didn’t get back to Bethany. So today I resent it, and hopefully when that gets to the agency, they will be able to show our books to some birth families.

I sometimes get stressed and think, “Maybe all of these roadblocks mean we shouldn’t have a kid after all.” Ben reminds me that we’ll be good parents. I just don’t want to screw up a little person for the rest of his or her life!

So again, we wait. Please pray for us as we wait.

As soon as we get on the waiting list officially, you all will be the first to know!!
