Utah Day 4: Rest

Today I got to sleep in. I’m pretty sure most of my blogs start like this. Oh well. Ben was up eating breakfast, reading the bible, and blogging before I ever set a foot on the floor.

What a restful, relaxing day it was! I woke up after a good night’s sleep in a hotel where I didn’t feel like I was going to contract an STI, and felt so much peace after our adventure last night at the hospital.

We spent the morning relaxing in the room.

Ben and I took birth mom Chic-fil-a for lunch, and I can’t tell you how excited I am that she loves Chic-fil-a as much as I do!

When we got to the hospital, they had just finished signing adoption papers. We weren’t planning on timing it that way, but it was good to see birth grandma after the fact, and to know that they are alright, even though they are grieving.

The pregnancy counselor called us later, to let us know that papers were signed and that she would be going to court on Monday to file in the state of Utah. She also told us that tomorrow is the big day: we get to bring Brynlee to our temporary home at the hotel!

We went to Babies r Us to make a few last minute purchases: a Halo Swaddle Sack (with cupcakes on it!), a diaper bag that matches our stroller and carseat (yay!), formula, preemie diapers, wipes, and a little mirror so we can see her face while driving.

We go to the hospital in the morning at 10 to sign papers and then spend the morning with birth family until discharge. We plan to pray together and share some special memories and photos tomorrow. Pray for us, pray for them.

Love,

Brooke
