“Hurry up and wait!”

hurryup

Have you ever heard that phrase? It’s a pretty common one among my parents and grandparents age, but I rarely use it myself, but it seems perfect to describe the last year of our journey with adoption. After over a year of interviews, background checks and mountains of emails and paperwork, Brooke and I are eligible to become adoptive parents at last. What’s that mean? Now we wait.

You might think that is a hard phase of the process, but for me at least, I’m relieved! Now it is totally out of our control, we can’t be blamed for missing something on a form. The process is now totally up to GOD, He is the only one pulling the strings now. For me, that is awesome! I trust and believe that God has the perfect child planned for my wife and I, so why should I stress about it?

I think we’ll pursue the task of setting up a gender neutral nursery, and possibly attending some parenting classes or something so we don’t permanently scar our child in some way. (Although I will do my best to embarrass them in every way I can! I can’t wait to be a Dad!)

How can you help? Eat, Pray, Love! (Well mostly pray, but don’t forget the other two.)

What to Pray for –

  • Our Future Child – healthy and happy!
  • Birth Parents – Guidance in picking the perfect family (us duh!) and a healthy pregnancy.
  • Brooke and I – that we don’t go crazy waiting, that we trust God has perfect timing.
  • Money – that we can afford the adoption cost, and supplies needed for child.
  • Our Families – Patience and understanding as we wait.

From the bottom of my heart I want to thank you for your kind words, thoughts, prayers and support. It has been an incredible journey and we have been so encouraged by all of you to continue in this amazing task.
